Our top concern here at First Choice Prep has been and will always be the health and well-being of our students and their families, as well as those of our tutors, instructors, and proctors. During this time, we are constantly monitoring guidance from the CDC, WHO, and state and local officials. Below is our current position on tutoring, test prep, and practice tests moving forward.
Tutoring sessions:
All tutoring sessions, consultations, and group tutoring be conducted online. As many of you already know, FCP has been offering excellent and highly effective online instruction, so we are more than prepared to continue to help your child with test prep and academic tutoring on a host of online platforms like Zoom, Google Hangout, Skype, and Facetime. Rest assured that, via these platforms, you and your tutor will be able to utilize all of the resources you currently do during your in-person sessions. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us and to your tutor to discuss this further.
Practice Tests:
All Sunday practice SATs and ACTs will be moved online. We will be conducting these practice tests virtually on Zoom. They will still be held on Sunday’s at the usual time, and we will work to get you your results in as timely a fashion as we have in the past. Students who sign up will be emailed a Zoom meeting invitation with a link to the meeting room in which we’ll be proctoring the test. Our proctors will host the meeting, provide timing instructions, and administer the test as they usually would in an in-person test. We will reach out to everyone who is currently signed up for a test to discuss the details for the coming weeks. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions about this as well.
Academic tutoring:
With schools closing across the region, we understand that your son or daughter may be in need of extra academic support. As many of you already know, we have an excellent team of academic tutors ready to provide expert online instruction for a wide array of academic subjects, including advanced math, all high school sciences, and the humanities. If you’re looking for some extra support for your son or daughter, or if you’d like them to get some enrichment in any of their subjects, please let us know – we’d be more than happy to help!
Upcoming SATs and ACTs:
The SAT and ACT have cancelled a couple of upcoming tests. The SAT recently cancelled all tests in March and May. The next test date for the SAT will be on June 6th. If you were signed up to take the March test (or a make-up test in March) or the May test, your registration fee will be refunded. The ACT has also decided to cancel their test scheduled for April 4th. The next ACT test date will be on June 13th.
If you were signed up for any of the above tests, we would strongly recommend signing up for the upcoming June tests (June 6th SAT or June 13th ACT) as soon as possible, before testing centers in your area fill up completely. Consider signing up for the July ACT now as well, as those administrations usually fill up very quickly, and will fill up even more quickly this year.
We are constantly monitoring the situation and will provide more updates here as things develop. Thank you for understanding and for working with us here to stop the spread of this virus. If we all do our part, we will get through this together. Above all, stay safe and be smart, and know that we are here to help with tutoring and test prep should you need us.
Please feel free to reach out to us and your tutors anytime.
